How is the editing mode implemented in 1C-Bitrix?

I want to develop one very specific CMS and need to make it easy for users to edit content and present it to users. I saw the implementation of such a function 1C-Bitrix. The editing mode is called, it turns on and any text on the site becomes available for editing.
Can you please explain how it works? How are the changes saved then?

You can use jqueryui.com/sortable/#portlets as a basis , I don’t really like the Bitrix option - I made the editor only in the admin panel and displayed the edited pages through the iframe. When saving, widgets/blocks are replaced with pseudo-code ala {widget name="news" id="2" items="5" class="widget-news"}

Poorly implemented.
What did you expect from the vizivig editor? They are needed to show at presentations and convince the user that he does not need to learn anything to start using the product, and not for real use.
This is the rule for all such systems. Don't use them - they are not designed for that.
