Not harmful if used wisely.
Just remember that there are big screens and mobiles, not just yours.
Using relative units - don't forget to check other screen resolutions.

Harmful? How could this be harmful? The same unit of measurement as the rest, does not bite, does not spit, does everything that is required of it.
It's like saying that it's harmful to measure everything in dozens, inches, or even in π. Each unit has its place of use.
But how harmful its inept use is another question.

In some cases, the layout will float. It is better to start from fixed values, and not from relative ones.
