How effective is using YSoft SafeQ?

The leaders of one company thought about saving paper and various consumables for their printers. And they paid attention to the YSoft SafeQ system. How effective is this system?
Is there a free solution to monitor consumption internally of printers / MFPs? For example, using scripts, periodically collect internal information from printer counters and send it to the server.
Is it possible to collect such internal information through the SNMP protocol? As far as I remember, Zabbix has such capabilities.
