How does traffic compression (mobile) work in opera/google browsers?

Dear colleagues. Perhaps you can tell me what kind of compression technology is used by mobile browsers like opera turbo. I would like to make an analogue of Onavo Extend, but it is not clear whether there is any savings from this at all.

Thanks for the answer. I wonder how to do this only not in the browser, but for all / selective programs? Does ios have built-in functions?

You buy a server, install software on it - a proxy with compression. In the program settings, specify the use of this proxy. On Habré there were about five articles on this issue.

nuuuuuuu
If it's sooo short
1) We put a transparent squid
2) We put ICAP on it
3) We write for ICAP our own GZIP compression program for individual request data
4) Profit
