How does the Internet get into an apartment building?

Usually, an Ethernet cable comes into the apartment. And what's next? What are the usual types of communication lines, intermediate nodes? Can the main house node be connected via some kind of radio channel?

Through the radio channel - maybe.
Usually, a twisted pair cable goes from the apartment to the attic, further between the houses and to the provider - optics. And from the provider goes optics already to the backbone provider, which sells the Internet and has optics throughout the country. The network between backbone providers and create the possibility of the existence of the Internet.
Also, now Rostelecom is moving PoN technology - there, with the help of passive dividers, optics goes to the client's apartment.
Each technology has both pros and cons.
As for the radio channel, this is done very rarely, since it is cheaper to put an expensive switch in the attic than to register a radio point in the communication supervision. In addition, fiber allows data to be transmitted at a higher speed and is less affected by weather conditions.
