How does the input file work?

The site needed to implement the ability to attach text files to the form in the usual way ( ) and Drag'n'Drop . The second I have never done and was sure that there are ready-made plugins. For example, I found Dropzone.js, but as I understand it, it immediately uploads the file to the server, which IMHO is not the best option. And accordingly, I asked myself several questions: 1) How does the usual one work ? Not really when attaching, it also immediately loads the file on the server? 2) And based on this, if it still loads only after submitting the form, then how to make Drag'n'Drop work by analogy with ? <input type="file">

You open the docks for Dropzone.js and read, there is always a setting about autoloading there. Or, ok google, "dropzone.js disable autoupload"
