How does the Consider Open Filled Path as Closed option work?

Consider Open Filled Path as Closed Does
Consider Open Filled Path as Closed just close open filled paths when the Shape Builder Tool is selected and the matching paths are selected? If this option is enabled, open, selected, filled paths are immediately closed when the Shape Bilder Tool is selected. Do you think it's better to disable this option or leave it enabled? How not like it immediately closes open filled paths with just one click on the Shape Bilder Tool in the toolbar.
