How does Mail Designer work?

A couple of years ago, when I saw the Mail Designer program, I did not take it seriously. (because I thought it was much easier and more reliable to make it myself). Recently stumbled upon it again;
The question arose: how does this program understand images, logos, etc.; Does it upload an image to the server when dragging and dropping?
