How does hourly pay work on DigitalOcean?

Do they charge DigitalOcean if I turn off the VPS? What system is there, what are the nuances of billing? For example, for the test I need Ubuntu there for 4-5 hours a day. Is there any way I can set it up so that I only charge for actual usage?

If the droplet is turned off (Power-Off), the fee is charged in the same way as for the included one. There is a direct question and answer about this in the Billing FAQ .
The DigitalOcean API allows you to create and delete droplets, among other things. Droplets are created from an image (image) - a standard one with a clean system (eg Ubuntu), or from your custom image (snapshot), which you save after software settings, etc. Snapshot
storage costs $0.05 per GB per month .
Those. economical option: run a droplet with Ubuntu, configure, take a snapshot. When not needed, turn off and delete so as not to waste money. In this state, the payment is only for storing the image. When you need a box again, create a new droplet from this snapshot for the 4-5 hours you need it. Save the new snapshot and delete the old one if necessary. Shutdown and delete the droplet.
All this can be done both through the web interface and through the Digital Ocean API.
Try it. According to my ref. The link will give you $10 "to try" when you register and link a live card. With such an economical approach, it will last a long time.

the droplet beats regardless of whether it is enabled or not
, use amazon, there, when the instance is turned off, only the disk of the virtual machine beats
