How does a freelancer test a responsive website?

Good day to all.
The best test of a responsive site is the device itself, but a freelancer obviously doesn’t have that many devices. How to qualitatively test an adaptive site, so that you can give the work to the customer with confidence?
P/S.
What methods do you use in your freelancing practice?
Chrome - F12 - Ctrl + Shift + M (device mode)
I've been testing this way for quite a long time, but how accurate is this method, can I rely on it ?, it's not just that, there are paid sites like browserstack.com

I first use webkit developer tools, then I check in the browser stack.
ios can be checked in xcode ios simulator, android can be checked in genymotion, there is also Opera Mobile Classic Emulator

For a quick test of several resolutions at once, there is also a great web-developer plugin, the Resize tab .
For an already laid out site, you can still see an interesting service from Microsoft .

The new safari also has a very convenient tool for such testing.
