How does a bitcoin client look for other participants on the network?

Good day!
In the classic scheme, the client knows the IP address of the server and makes a call to it. In the case of a distributed network, I can’t understand how participants find each other in the intetrnet? Or blockchains are not so decentralized and there is a certain node for switching participants.
