I take it out once a month, blow off the dust, charge it and read Wikipedia or habrahabr from it while sitting on the couch.
In other cases, I use a desktop computer with two large monitors or a Galaxy S4 communicator with a large screen, if I'm not at home or at work.
Also very often friends ask "why do you need a tablet?". I ask them to bring their pattern of using the computer. What do they do behind the electronic device.
If it's reading or browsing sites, listening to music and writing small texts (comments, personal email), then a tablet is ideal.
If you want to watch videos or play heavy toys, such as "tanks", then the tablet is clearly not suitable here.
I myself have a tablet: I only play 1-2 toys on it (I can live without them in principle), read mail, twitter and climb sites (I used to do this from a laptop or desktop and there were no problems) and I work - I make up websites and see how it looks and works on tablets. That is, in fact, from the useful - it's just work. The rest is just playing with toys and reading, which I did from other devices 10 years before and was satisfied.
There is Nexus 7, I used it for "everything" for a while (fix something via ssh, read sites, RSS, mail, sit in the jabber). Then laziness took its toll, I carry the laptop again (in case I fix it), and I do the rest on the phone.
iPad Mini, if I'm going somewhere to write down something in my notes, go online, check the weather.
