With personal time, everything is very simple. Have your friends invited you to hang out tomorrow night? Good. So now I'm going to work, go to bed, sleep longer, watch TV shows, go out with friends. Nobody called anywhere? So I watch TV shows, go to bed, sleep as I can, work.
I constantly plan things in OneNote and Microsoft Calendar. But, I still duplicate a number of tasks on paper.
The basic rules of my time tracking:
1) The process of creating sites (design, layout, programming, content) is a creative process that requires 100% concentration and a lot of time.
2) Do you have free half a day? Working.
3) There is only a free hour - I watch TV shows or sleep.
4) Sleep... Now it seems that another hour of work instead of sleep will benefit the project... That's right... Except for one thing... I'll be like a zombie for the next 24 hours.
5) If you sat down to work - work. In fact, I always interrupt on VK or Skype. I try to endure personal conversations, but clients often ask for some details ... It is very important to answer in time.
6) I have no children, but I have two younger brothers. In principle, the difference is not very big. Children and work cannot be combined. Either work will be lame, or children will behave even worse from lack of attention - as a result, work will again be lame.
7) An important rule is not to put the work above the personal, but not to allow the personal to completely seize power. It is necessary to maintain the line between one or two refusals to friends / family / soulmate due to a deadline and between constantly leaving for work.
8) Do not work on certain days. I experimented for a long time... In the end, it's best to have 3 days off: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. Wednesday to distinguish between busy work on Mon+Tue and Thu+Mon. And Saturday and Sunday, so that you can spend time with friends / family without any problems.
Cherovo works clear 100% planning. Once I wrote my day so beautifully in my diary... The problems began when, due to "force majeure", I was only able to start work with a delay of an hour. Not a disaster, but the plan went to hell. Leave in the plan the possibility of not having time to do some business ... Or leave backup hours. So you can both relax and catch something if you are behind or even catch up with the initial delay.
