How do they prohibit the ability to see others in wifi except themselves and the piece of iron?

Good afternoon.
In the university, on one of the routers, there is such a topic that blocks the ability to watch other users on this network. How is it implemented? How to bypass it?
By the way, is it possible to get lost in the network so that no one except the piece of iron could ping you and could not reach you either?) Otherwise, I have a lot of things open, ports. And everyone can use them))
Thank you)

Implemented by the router or by denying local traffic or by wrapping the client in a personal VLAN
Maybe it all depends on the OS

A home group is created with the same name.
Who is not included in the group, does not see the participants

You have a lot of "things" open, but you are afraid that someone will use them.
Who are they open to? If you don't want them to be used, close them.
It can be opened for a specific address, a group of addresses, only for the local computer - see the firewall rules settings.
To disable pings and Windows networking - in the sharing settings, turn off "sharing ..." and "network discovery", enable password access and maximum encryption.
Access to other ports and services must be regulated using firewall rules.
