How do I turn off the scanner lamp when scanning?
Good day. I always dreamed of assembling a camera from an old (or new) scanner. Here is a wonderful description of the Deluxe Scanner Camera , but a lot of questions arose from the side of the software, namely: the guys advise using the SANE driver, but unfortunately my scanner (hp g4010) was not on the list.
The task is simple in theory: during scanning, the backlight should not work.
My scanner has an adapter for scanning 35mm film, so the standard driver already has a function to turn off the lamp when scanning 35mm film, BUT at the same time, the scanning area narrows to the width of the film.
The main question: is it possible to force the backlight to turn off during a normal scan without resorting to disassembling the scanner, cutting off the wires or sticking the lamp with black tape?
PS. Or maybe someone has experience using the SANE driver, can I add support for my scanner there?
I tried everything on OSX, but of course there are Linux and Windows at hand.
