How did such companies as reg.ru, jino.ru, nic.ru start their business?

I am currently interested in how such companies as reg.ru, jino.ru, nic.ru opened their business, providing services such as hosting, domain registration for developers / for business / etc., I am more interested in the business plan of of these companies, what you need to do to become a partner of some large company so that you can provide domains to people.

I know that hosting requires equipment. But I want to know more in a broader version. Someone may have started in their small town hosting/domain specifically for their town, and the owner of his small company was counting on a small number of people up to ~ 5000+/- people.

The time of hosting and domains has passed, it ended almost 10 years ago, you did not get into the stream. The entire market has been divided by giants, small hosters and domain sellers are dropping like flies.

reg.ru - organized by cybersquatters with a lot of money.
nic.ru is a former semi-government office - a domain registrar (later bought by the dinosaur RBC), which got out of ripn.net
It can be said that the hosting market is extremely underdeveloped in the Russian Federation and there are no serious players on it yet.

To become a partner of a large company, it is enough to register in an affiliate program. Why don't you try reselling first? You yourself are engaged in promotion and billing, but do not bother with hardware and regulations. The costs are not very high, you will understand whether yours at all.
My hoster opened a hosting reseller not so long ago . I also thought about it, I'm a marketer, it's interesting to try.
But I agree with the previous speaker, the market is very dense, it is enough to skim through the resources with reviews to understand how many small hosters are on the market. On the other hand, most of the service is not up to par. If you provide customers with a good caliper, then you can try to leave on this.
