How to make sure that the domain belongs after the purchase?

Please tell me, how can I make sure that the domain after the purchase belongs to the buyer, and not to the registrar? At the same time, whois is hidden, and accordingly there is no buyer data there. I met a description of such situations when the domain is rewritten specifically to the registrar, and then the buyer has problems of various types.
And one more question, why, after purchasing a domain, some registrars still show it as free? Is it just a lag in updating the data?

the domain after the purchase belongs to the buyer

The domain does not belong to the buyer. Never. The domain is always owned by the zone administrator.
The buyer leases the right to administer the domain - that is, to prescribe DNS records for him, which he, the buyer, needs. This is what needs to be checked.
