How can I set the OneDrive folder location to be anywhere, specifically use C:\User\XXX\Desktop?

Through the traditional path of changing the location, it is only possible to connect to the location C:\User\XXX\Desktop\OneDrive and this folder is not synchronized (gives an error). Maybe you can configure the actual location somewhere through the Registry?
