How can I make sure that only 1 monitor is active at all times?

I have an HDMI monitor connected to my laptop. Every time I turn on the laptop, I have to select "Show only on 2" in the settings. That is, so that the picture is shown only on the monitor. Is it possible to make it so that you don't have to do it every time?
