How can I make sure that files are always available when their physical location changes?

Subject. There is a domain with dfs, which collects all the balls. But now, on one of the servers, the hard disk space is running out, and users can no longer copy anything to this ball, because. no place.

Question. Is it possible to somehow physically transfer some of the files to another disk, but at the same time, so that users do not see the difference and for them it would look exactly the same as before the edits?

An easy option is to make a shortcut to the new folder location.
A nice option is to change the DFS configuration and use a new folder target with the folder name and looking at the new location.

You seem to want serious perversions, then use symlinks, but a more correct way has already been suggested to you. You can read about symlinks, for example, here :

https://tyapk.ru/blog/post/hardlink-and-symlink-windows
to use them in conjunction with DFS, and did not even indicate what type of replication you have configured, you can go through various interesting rakes.

Certainly.
And there are many options.
  • You can simply mount the disk as a directory.
  • It is possible to extend a disk to another disk (dynamic disks)
  • You can transfer the ball to another computer with the same name.

Well, further down the list, too lazy to list.
