Monetization

How can I make money on a chat plugin for different CMS?

I have a nice chat module for communication between site users and I could integrate it into different CMS, but I can't figure out how to make even a little money out of it.

  1. I have an idea to hope for donations
  2. Release it under a dual license - free for non-commercial use and paid for commercial use
  3. Make it completely paid and sell

I am most inclined towards the second option, but I could not find any reviews about this method of monetization. And about how often people from Russia generally think about what license they use something under.

Does your module have killer chips? If there is already a free module with similar functionality, then why buy something? Based on experience, I can say that in Russia if there is a free version of a suitable product, they will use it, and they will add the missing functionality
themselves . should be tangible, and the paid version should be really cool, functional and convenient. There is an episode with copy protection, here you will need to get confused, for example, attach an api with key verification and domain binding and update frequently - then it will not make sense to distribute a broken version for free

In theory, maybe you can try this - a free module and individual paid improvements for specific wishes. But to be honest - this is a chat, the prospects are vague. In a nutshell, you wrote - "I wrote a chat, and now I want money." You can spam CMS developers with the text - "I wrote a cool chat, let's add it to your product for a little money."
