How can I adjust the width for the path tag?

There is such a svg https://jsfiddle.net/omo0725v/ , inside it there are two types of stars wrapped in a g tag. I need to make it so that the star can be cut off on the sides. (Tried with width and overflow: hidden - doesn't work). I will be glad for any help.

Each star has its own path, what prevents it from being made so that the star is the way you need it? Open it in Inkscape and do whatever you want.
