How can a startup find a salesperson?
Good day to all. Actually SABZH.
There are many step-by-step instructions on the Internet on how to find programmers, managers, etc. in a startup.
But how to find yourself an excellent (not good, good for a startup is not suitable) salesperson?
Sold just the same. No worse than Joe MacMillan from Halt and Catch Fire?
In theory, everything seems to be simple - we place ads on sites like headhunter or moikrug, and we tear out the candidate who was able to best sell himself to you.
In practice, you get standard offers at best. It feels like a person was taught to be a salesperson and work according to a script, but they themselves were not taught how to invent and write scripts.
They don't even try to contact me in a day or two to remind me of themselves (abandoned cart tactic).
..Well, there were a couple, but these are out of 200 candidates.
And at the same time, no one wants to work for a percentage (neither from profit, nor from a startup). Only for a fixed rate.
The theory tells us that the main profit of the salesperson is interest. A good salesperson can earn more money per month on interest than a CEO.
In all smart books, just guys working on a percentage are described as an example.
But here's a fait accompli - none of the applicants want to work for a percentage. Those. he signs in advance that he does not want to engage in sales, but stupidly sit on a salary.
Either I'm looking in the wrong place, or I'm looking in the wrong way, and as a programmer, I just don't know how to find a common language with them and interest them.
In general, I will be glad to any advice in this matter - how and where to look for them?

People want a bid because they are not sure about the need for your product, that they will be able to fulfill the volume and will not be able to earn money for food.
Show people the opportunity to earn money and they will be drawn to you.
For example, a salesperson in a project can be replaced with an affiliate program, unless of course it is well thought out.
The percentage should be such that selling N pcs in a month. enough for bread and butter and sausage, plus a girl to the cinema to take.
Wow, that's the author's arrogance. Immediately give him a pro, and even run after him.
Obviously, the "smart books" that you read are translated from English, because you are clearly not familiar with domestic marketing realities and, in principle, you have no knowledge in this area, except for theoretical ones.
Maybe they see that your startup can't make much money? Well, you are also trying to sit on the throne while they do all the dirty work for you.
This.
No offense, I'm just voicing my opinion.
Easy to hire.
Ordinary profession.
But you are right about one thing - a good salesperson needs a very good percentage of the profits.
Among students, try
Well, or be more cunning: write a salary 3-10 times higher than the norm, plus about the percentage of sales, plus what a cool idea / office / investors you have, etc. etc. In theory, everyone should immediately come running to you, and then you can already bargain with more or less promising candidates, well, there’s something like “Chess, we have already found a person, but we are ready to make an exception for you, because we see great potential in you , well, and ... therefore, we can offer salary only 3 times less for now"
In general, IMHO, it’s not a problem to find good salespeople at all, it’s generally not clear why you are so fuming on this topic and obviously looking in the wrong place where you can find them
I have worked a lot in sales and I can speak from experience.
There are only two options:
1. Dedicated budget for marketing and sales. = Good salary and motivation for salespeople.
2. If there is no budget, then only - A share in the company that will allow you to influence the product parameters. And according to the agreement on income.
-----------
Everything else is good wishes, waiting for a miracle, a lot of people who cannot sell but really want to learn by training on you like cats, or futile attempts to do the unworkable, cram the unpushable and so on. .

Seek and find.
If your product smells bad, then no one will come to you for a percentage. Take it as a challenge and make the product better.
For salespeople like this:
1. Salary. This in different companies can be a different share of the potential earnings of the seller: 25-80%. The salary is paid for the implementation of the sales plan.
2. Variable part. It changes non-linearly depending on the degree of fulfillment/overfulfillment of the plan.
That is, you can set a salary of 20 thousand rubles, for this money the salesperson is obliged to sell X units of products / services. Maybe not from the first month, but from the second for sure. If he does not fulfill the plan - this is either a bad plan or a bad salesman - figure it out, work out the situation, change the bad.
The variable part is exactly what should encourage the salesperson to sell more. Usually the salesperson falls short of his comfortable living minimum and does not seek to earn more.
As a result, it is very difficult to find a worker without a salary. To count on this, you need to really ignite it with your idea and product. And then the salesperson becomes not just a seller, but an entrepreneur whose business is to sell your product.
Try reading books by Radmilo Lukich, he is a Serb, but he worked in Russia for a long time and understands the Russian mentality very well. He writes well about how to work in our market.
