How are smart objects related in the psd layout?

Can you tell me how the smart objects are connected in the mockup, namely, when you put a picture into the smart object that is at the top, this picture is put into the 2nd smart object and deformed?

I’m asking because I’m trying to create my own mockup, in which there will be no separation into left and right pages (there are about 40 photobook design files, and they all come with one picture, one spread, without separation into pages), but so far it doesn’t work.

smart object is roughly speaking a link. which contains another psd. There can be as many copies of it as you like, but the contents there will be the same.
