How are articles published on sites like TechCrunch?

Actually I do not know where to read about the model. Let's say there is a service that wants to publish a press release or just to be written about. How does this happen? Does the one who posts the article pay or is it taken as material? Who knows give links and share information.
PS Inspired by Western sites with a bunch of reviews of all kinds of magazines.

In my opinion, the best option is to contact the editors (editors) of
TechCrunch
CNET
. If, in the opinion of the editors of the online publication, the product seems moderately interesting, they will compile and publish a review, and the only fee will be a test copy of the product with full functionality (I think it’s clear why) .
