How are applications stored in macOS?

I switched to a poppy from Windows, I can’t figure it out:

  1. I understand correctly that applications are stored in / Applications in their entirety? Those. Is it enough for me to move the icon from the Finder to the trash to delete it and no garbage will remain?
  2. Some applications create a whole folder with all the files in Applications (as in Program Files in Windows) and this all clogs Launchpad with a bunch of extra icons. Is there a way to remove them from there? So that only the main launcher shortcut remains in Launchpad?

From the launchpad or from the dock?
If in the launchpad - then hold down the mouse button on any icon and sort it as you like, create additional folders and put it there
. To remove it, better install AppCleaner - a simple free program that will remove all traces of the program
