Hosting a website on a computer instead of hosting?
Greetings.
There is a photographer's site hosted by a web host. There are a lot of photos on the site, hosting is starting to run out (the maximum tariff is selected)
1. Can this site be hosted on a home computer permanently connected to the Internet with a dedicated IP
2. What will be the difference between hosting a site and hosting it on your computer?
3. What is the best tool for this? Denver? open server? On a Windows computer, Linux do not offer, please
Thank you

Just don't even consider that option a priori. If you really want to understand why - create the question "Why can't you use your home computer as a server" so as not to mislead others.
Files (and images) need to be stored in separate dedicated locations, such as Amazon S3 (there are also many analogues up to "rent another server with a minimum amount of CPU / RAM and a maximum HDD, but this is also a bad option):
https://aws .amazon.com/ru/s3/pricing/
And, of course, you don't need photos in the same quality as on the camera if you want to show the work, and not sell these photos.
Kill yourself with a broom and rent a VPS.
In order for your "computer" to pull this, with high attendance, there must be an excellent outgoing channel to the Internet, a fast RAID array or a cool SSD, and at least Windows Server 2012 =)
0) A server on your own computer is not an option. Yes, your problem is different.
1) Why upload ALL photos of the photographer in maximum resolution to the server? A couple of photos from the series in compressed png will be enough as a portfolio.
2) Rent another hosting and upload photos there. On the main site, upload photos from a third-party server.
1. It is possible if the IP is external ("white"), if the problem was only that it is dynamic, but it would still be "white", then it would be possible to start the server on it, just the IP would then change, but usually "by default" it is generally impossible to start the server on global IP.
2. Characteristics of the computer, the need to keep it on, do not run extraneous programs.
3.XAMPP or Ampps.
And what is the easiest option to place a picture - a stub?
It’s just that an old friend closes his hosting business due to the latest changes in legislation, but I don’t need a full-fledged website yet, there is a server with a white ip, there is only one misunderstanding program running on it. Yes, and even the site had little traffic
