Hoster's responsibility for non-licensed client software?

Actually, how are things going with the hoster's responsibility for unlicensed software that the client installed?
Suppose a client orders a VPS with Linux from a hoster, the hoster does not prohibit installing OS from its own ISO, the client installs Windows, the client and the hoster are satisfied.

One fine day they go to the host... And they see that the client has something far from Linux, and not a licensed Windows... Who is responsible for this software? The hoster did not install, the client did, this is confirmed by the transaction logs in the personal account. According to billing, the hoster passes the Linux OS that he installed to the client.

What is your opinion of a colleague? The Internet has not given a clear answer.

And why would he forbid arbitrary ISO images with operating systems?
This is a decline in the quality of services.
And unlicensed software can be installed for millions and inside, the prohibition just not to install the left OS will not help in any way.
In a normal hosting contract (offer) it is written that way - they say that all responsibility is on the client.
And of course, when they come with a check, the hoster cooperates with the investigation as much as possible.
That is, he gives everything he has.
Virtual machine image files, backups, logs from where, when, who connected to the server through the administration interface, etc.
In general, everything that is.

How do they see it?
By what right does someone have the right to check the personal information of customers?

the hoster, as before and now, is not responsible for the client's actions.
I myself used to be a small hoster, you just give out all the client data and logs to the authorities and voila.

the chance that this can happen is very small, but if we assume that this happened, then the hoster will do the same as it does with other similar abuses - it will simply turn off your vps before giving time for backup and other operations to move to another hoster. and say goodbye to you

All liability of the parties is regulated by the contract. Write in the contract that a clean server is issued, and everything that the client puts is his responsibility. We, for example, install trial Windows from the site, and where the client will take the key is not important to us.
