Help your father go freelancing. I collect advice. What are your recommendations?
Hello.
It so happened that the company for which my father worked remotely ceased to exist.
Due to age, finding a new one is already problematic, and going to the office is already considered with great negativity.
He has a desire to try freelancing himself, and I want to help him with this.
Therefore, I collect additional information and advice.
Field of activity: packaging design development, printing, preparation for printing, calendars, business cards, booklets, graphics

imho:
1. It is obligatory to collect a portfolio. Put it on any site - you can on https://www.behance.net/ , you can on the same https://moikrug.ru/
2. I'm lost from the question. If he works in a field where access to a photo bank is needed, why doesn't he still have it?
3. You need to look at the main ones where there is currently a flow of orders on relevant topics and go there.
Immediately buy "PRO" you need.
Any business card sites, they are also portfolios, are needed solely as links that can be sent to the client.
To receive money you need to have at least:
A website on its own domain and mail on the same domain is a significant plus in karma for a potential freelancer. For example, when choosing a contractor for a design, it would bother me if a person gave a link to a site with his portfolio on some narod.ru or ucoz.ru, as well as an e-mail on mail.ru or another free service.
This gives reason to think - what about the income of this person, if he can’t allocate even 1000 rubles a year for hosting and a domain for his site? Maybe he is a so-so performer, so low incomes?
As for IP, you can do without an IP on exchanges, but I would recommend registering as an IP. Because the field of activity is such that the clients will be mainly legal entities. And it is easier for them to work under a contract, and "everything is serious." Again, this is an additional plus in karma for a freelancer if he is ready to formalize the work with legally significant documents.
1. moikrug.ru. Don't waste time on your website or anything like it
2. Why? Don't waste time
3. In turn:
* www.fl.ru , freelance.ru , freelancehunt.com , freelansim.ru , www.weblancer.net - choose according to your taste.
* It depends where. On some, there is nothing to do at all without payment, on some it is only an element of comfort.
* Business cards are not what. You need to:
a) fill out a profile - portfolio, skills, contacts, etc.
b) pass verification, if this lotion exists
c) get a couple of reviews to start. Dumping to help get the first orders. Let it be something small, but with payment - so that the rating is also tweaked.
* It depends where. If you pay directly - you need to negotiate. If BS - POISON, WM, cards.
* Enough. Hit the IP. Earn 300-500 USD to start. per month, then pay taxes. No one will touch - neither before nor after.
A person with experience in printing can be in demand on any freelance exchange.
Alas, there is practically no opportunity to work without a paid account anywhere. Therefore, most likely you need to choose one of the exchanges (especially since it is unlikely that you will have time to search and process two or more exchanges in one hand.)
For payment, you will most likely need Poison and WebMoney.
In addition to freelance exchanges (a good list is already on the Toaster ), he personally probably it would make sense to contact the printing houses involved in packaging (the most "fat" topic of those areas that you listed) - there are time troubles when they need hands in the wings.
It makes sense to look for resources where printers and their customers hang out. I know that in Ukraine there is a RUP, alas, I did not find something similar in Russia. Such a site will not give large orders - but it will give regular customers small tasks.
Why exchanges at all? Maybe if only for a start. But it’s difficult there: experienced freelancers with ratings and chic portfolios sit there: it won’t be easy.
I myself came to remote work as a complete novice, and that’s why many people quit after a month or two, it’s very difficult to take an order, some freelancers have been working there for years, they have a high rating and so on.
I started differently. And I have been successfully working for 9 months)
Do not be afraid of freelance exchanges. The sooner you sign up, the sooner you become proficient. Many exchanges increase the rating simply for entering the site. So what to pull? Exchanges can be conditionally divided into two types - 1. customers offer work and 2. performers offer their services. The first ones are good because you can immediately select an order, the second ones are good because they don’t take your time to search for customers. Therefore, you will be able to kill time in search of an order only on one or two exchanges of the first type, and on the exchanges of the second type it is worth registering for all that you find. Most of them are free (only take a commission from the order), for example, kwork, infotwip
