Have you experienced that your new potential employer wrote to the old one?

After interviewing a potential new employer for a developer position, have you ever contacted your old employer or asked for referrals from your previous employer?
Correction: we are not talking about employers in one dialect, even in Moscow, but when you work remotely, i.e. We are talking about all employers in Russia.
PS I haven't worked for Russian employers for a long time. How is it with this?

Yes, I did, but not often ... It was precisely today's employer who contacted my previous one. He clarified why I left a good salary and a "good" company ...

It happens. What's stopping him, really?
What is the problem?

in the IT sphere, this does not just happen, but almost a regularity.
for example, web studios in one city 100% contact each other when it comes to vacancies.

This is a normal story, especially for remote work.
When I hire someone who needs specific experience and cases, I turn to past employers.

I sometimes ask for verification.
There is nothing surprising in this.

Faced with the fact that they call us and ask about such and such an employee. We always answer honestly - if a person was a rare zander - we answer - "a rare pike perch" ... In IT, this is more a rule than an exception - take care of your reputation from an early age :D

Sometimes you need to confirm that you really worked there.
