Has anyone gotten to verify their account on Upwork?

Today we received a letter of happiness stating that your account requires verification, and during this time, you can not make new job applications and change your profile picture. I have to verify my account within a week, and if I don't, then more serious restrictions await me.
In principle, everything is in order with my account and the verification passed. (requires a video camera (they asked to look without moving into the camera) and knowledge of English).
But somehow strange, I have not come across anything like this for the first year on Upwork. I have a couple of regular customers and I'm not looking for new ones.
What is row cleaning? Any ideas why this is?

Standard procedure. Takes 5 minutes. All that was required was to say with your mouth the address (indicated in the profile) to the camera :-) On the other side, there is usually some Indian with a wild accent.

You just need to confirm your profile, you don’t even need to talk, you can decide everything in the chat.
Weed out fake accounts, this is when, for example, someone uses someone else's name / photo

Well, didn’t you think that there are a bunch of fake accounts or that many smart people start several accounts after a ban or to track several projects at the same time, etc. options for cheating in case of removal of the wagon and bogie.

Upwork officially announced the purge of the ranks back in the fall, if I'm not mistaken. They close the accounts of ineffective freelancers, not all new ones are registered, they are filtered. Old ones are checked, those who haven't passed are blocked. This was officially written. Too many freelancers, too few clients, the market is declining.
