GUI type name?

Hello %username%!
Tell me, please, what is the name of the type of graphical interface that is used by vim, emacs, and I also saw something like the desktop where there was supposedly a console, which was conditionally divided into parts (ala frames in emacs), where these very parts were windows and that's all control came from the keyboard (maybe you know what kind of “window” manager it is?).
PS: Thanks in advance.

tiling window manager is popularly called tiling, if I understand the question correctly, and in the console this can be achieved using tools such as screen and tmux

If anyone is interested: I settled on wmii, somehow I like it more, I especially liked wmiir - the window manager control interface through the file system, it's just something. It is very convenient to write scripts, you can write both in ruby, both in python and in bash. A word of advice: if you start using wmii, don't be too lazy to explore the wmiir interface.
I also tried Ion and dwm, the ion was removed almost immediately. But with dwm I indulged a little. I liked the idea of tagging in dwm, but I really didn't like the fact that the focus follows the mouse pointer, and configuration through re-assembly of the package, somehow, is not very good.
