Good, you can also pay, VNC client, are there any?
You need a good VNC client, you can also pay, below I will explain what I mean:
1. You need to scale the screen.
2. Intercept all hot keys (for example, ctrl + tab) and the ability to enable or disable this interception
3. Cross-platform, but at worst under windows it will do.
4. Well, of course, all sorts of little things, such as encryption, heaps of settings, etc.
5. No problems with encodings (Ultra Vnc. Now, for example, the Russian “y” does not work for me on a remote machine and sometimes English characters give out some kind of henna, it is treated by distorting the layout on a remote wheelbarrow).
I am connecting to ubuntu 12.04 from windows 7. I am developing on a remote machine.
Now I use UltraVnc, there is a main problem, after a few minutes or because of some actions, hot keys fall off in ide (idea 11 alt + ctrl + n, ctrl + n, ctrl + f), browser (ctrl + f), but in general everywhere, I listed the hotkeys, just to explain what fell off. I'm flying by closing the client and reconnecting. I dream about remote ctrl+tab.
Perhaps someone will write that development through vnc is a perversion, but now it is temporarily the only way to work. There are no other options.
That's the whole question.

If anyone is interested, I decided to refuse rdp and vnc. x11 forwarding showed itself best of all, and decide to stop on it.
Under Windows I use Xmanager (paid, while the trial, I can buy) as an x server.
There are also free cygwin and xming, cygwin did not try, xmind strained by disabling hotkeys and the cursor for text in ide when switching between windows. Putty as an ssh client with compression enabled.
From ubuntu, it's still easier to ssh -X -C [email protected]_host, then run the necessary programs and enjoy life.
If you want something like that, check out:
PocketCloud Remote by Wyse (acquired by Dell) remote access to Mac and Windows OS on Android and iOS. RDP/VNC protocols.
Remotix - Remote access to Mac OS X, Linux and Windows on Android and iOS. VNC and Apple Remote Desktop protocols. SSH tunneling.
Jump Desktop (RDP and VNC) remote access to Mac and Windows OS on Android and iOS (video)
Why don't you consider the option to make Ubuntu the main OS and connect from it via RDP and windows?
RDP clients based on FreeRDP work very well under Linux.
apt-get install freerdp-x11 remmina
You can use the GUI interface, or you can make a script for connecting, for example, such a script forwards a printer, clipboard, sound, home folder + plus all removable media to RDP.
xfreerdp -u $USER -g 1600x1000 --ignore-certificate -k 0x00000409 --plugin rdpdr --data disk:desktop:/home/$USER/ disk:usb-flash:/media/ printer -- --plugin cliprdr --plugin drdynvc --data audin -- --no-tls --no-nla 192.168.0.1
In this mode, absolutely all keys and their combinations are transmitted.
I still have FreeNX + NoMachine Player for these purposes.
So far, the only problem seems to be the unwillingness to pick up your old sessions, but it exists rather because of the lack of time to eliminate it :)
I use an excellent client - Remmina, though I have not seen binaries for Windows ...
But TightVNC can't do what you described?
I only have a Tight VNC Java Viewer that normally clings to the Xen DomU VNC console (but this is a particularity). Cross-platform. Chicken didn't work.
ps: For iOS, for VNC, you can use iSSH.
