Gentoo. What are the best USEs for VLC in your opinion?

Haven't contacted for a long time...
Greetings to all.
Question: I don't use ffmpeg, only libav. VLC tearfully asks for vdpau (that's what it is for me, if I have a GeForce) and vaapi (it's not clear with this).
What will I lose by turning off this good?
