From UI/UX designer to mobile app developer?

Good afternoon, here I asked myself a question of a cardinal change of direction in work. I am currently working as a UI/UX designer. I can typeset, I have skills: html/css/js. I know well usability both on mobile phones and on the web. But in terms of money received, the ceiling is already high, in graphic design on freelance, everything is also sad. So I wondered how much higher the salary is in the development of android / ios mobile applications, and is it too late at the age of 28 to try to make a career in development?

It all depends on what level of application you want to develop.
If something serious - then it will take you half a year - a year just to learn Java / Obj-C / Swift.
This is for the junior level, and if you make native applications.
If hybrid - you have the basics (html/css/js).
With js, you will have to switch to angular, but this does not matter.
In terms of salary - of course more but middle and higher.
Now in the same European and American markets there is a shortage of good java progers. They are ready to at least pay for the move (if in Europe, a friend drove off to Poland, then to the Netherlands).
You have a big advantage - you know how to design, on the same upwork it will be appreciated if you have a portfolio (few mobile developers can design, very few)
So keep it up.
On zp - on average, the middle receives from 2 thousand ye and more.
The maximum amount I received for a hybrid application was -5.5k, but there was a good customer (and I'm finishing it)
Average project in terms of terms - from 3 months, along with QA and testing.

And the ceiling is how many thousand dollars, so I have three layout designers I know and everyone lives better than me
