From PM to (web)analytics. Where to begin?
Good afternoon!
Tell me, please, what skills do you need to acquire first of all in order to turn towards analytics?
Now I am: A project on large projects of contextual + targeted advertising + website development (+ experiments). That is, now my main "wealth" is the knowledge of advertising systems for "good +", GA + Metrics at the level of a confident user, GTM at the level of an insecure user (setting up simple events "with a dictionary"). I have never worked with mobile applications and do not want to yet.
What you want:
1) independently configure analytics systems for tasks (for example, complex events in GTM / writing third-party scripts)
2) collecting, aggregating data from different systems
3) work with the database - all possible visualization (import into various BI, for example) 4) and most importantly - build the correct exponential
slices
and draw the correct conclusions
writes about R, SQL, Python, up to JS.
Summing up, the questions are: What language to start learning and whether to start? What textbook to start on statistics, if I (sorry) humanist?
Thank you!

If you go into web analytics, then you don’t have to learn any PL, a deep understanding of GA is enough (you may need to pull data through ga api, so you will also have to deal with it), support scripts through GTM (set up triggers, correctly transfer data through the same data layer), collect all metrics and transfer them to Google Big Query. And, of course, build end-to-end analytics, usually through OWOX or GDS. If you visualize through Power BI, then R is needed there. Mathematical statistics are needed, as a rule, by product analysts or DSs, and not by web analysts. So for this position it will most likely be redundant knowledge, but if you really want to, take a look at the course on mathematical statistics on Stepika.
Everything that is written above is rather a program with a maximum of tools, because somewhere just Metrics, GA and GTM are enough.
