Freetype2 and ligatures?

Good afternoon.
We have applications (C++, OpenGL). It is necessary to display some text on the screen, for which freetype2 is used.
Everything works fine, until it encounters a font containing ligatures.
After rereading the freetype documentation, I did not find a way to use ligatures from a font.
Who faced a similar task, tell me, is it possible to do this at all with the help of freetype2, and if so, in which direction to dig?
