Freelancer.com is fl.ru, but global?

The question is a quote from habr. Is this relevant at the moment? This is not the first time I have met such a point of view that they are crooks and extortionists.

Yes, everything seems to be quite normal there, three disgruntled cripples will be at any exchange.

If you compare them with clothes / upwork, then upwork is better.
In general, it cannot be said that they are crooks and extortionists. If you carefully read their ToS and FAQ, it becomes clear that they are just making money: all kinds of fees that are charged left and right, all kinds of restrictions for those who do not pay a subscription, and so on. The resource itself, with all the controversial situation, strongly leans towards customers, which, however, is typical, probably, for all freelance exchanges.
The fact that they take (subtract) their fee at the very beginning is a well-known thing mentioned in the FAQ and in a bunch of posts on forums, reddit, blogs. Similarly, about the deduction of money from a freelancer if the client makes a chargeback - an indecent move (the exchange must verify customers and provide some protection), but this is not hidden.
