AVG
I myself have been using it for a long time and with pleasure, and already some friends and almost the entire office have put it on it.
True, he is a little paranoid, but it's better that way than to miss the infection.

On Habré not so long ago there was a good review on this case.

At home I have Avira on XP, my wife has Microsoft Essentials on seven. There are no viruses here and there. Both do not load the system. Flash drives are checked.
For the house it is more important not to use IE - it is checked up. How I transplanted my mother to Opera (you can choose any of the list) and Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express somehow for a long time no infection was noticed.
But maybe just luck.

From my practice, I will note Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials.
Well, essesna, do not forget to update :)
Fire, by the way, also does not hurt. I use the free COMODO Firewall myself.

I was surprised that no one praises Avira,
I sit on it for a long time, after Avast began to swear after a year of use

The best antivirus is hands.sys!
Currently, careful use of the OS protects against malware no worse than a bunch of antivirus + vulnerable system. Therefore, for users who want to increase the security of their computer, I advise, first of all, not an anti-virus program, but to familiarize themselves with the commandments of safe browsing on the Internet: security-advisory.virusinfo.info/

Comodo 5 launches all programs in sanbox by default, you can tell it which ones you don't need to run like that. The system does not load. It comes with a set of fire + antivirus + proactive defense, but you can choose one thing.

I will say that it is NOT necessary to put. Never, no matter what you are told and no matter how advertised, do not install Zillya Antivirus. A completely helpless product, when it worked on my computer, antiviruses got bold to the point that even emergency closing windows hung up. Not to mention 12-14 svhost processes at the same time.
I do not recommend both.

Avira annoying with its banner, Avast! upset me about 2 years ago when he screwed up my system files because of a virus on a flash drive. Now I recommend AVG for such questions - it seems that I haven’t stumbled on anything yet. Comodo Antivirus is also okay, but the heuristics there are downright paranoid.

I myself use the PC Tools Firewall Plus + Windows Defender + Panda Cloud Antivirus
bundle on my home Windows. I periodically run a Dr. Web CureIt! but finds nothing.
