There is one technical (non-IT) forum built as a platform for discussions on one of the technical sites. The forum is more than 10 years old, some time ago it was very popular in RuNet.
There was a problem with the forum: the main topic of the forum for a long time was the discussion of the site owner's publications - now the site owner has reduced creative activity, as a result, activity in the profile branches has sharply decreased on the forum and the contingent has moved to "Politics". According to Google analytics, it can be seen that politics now generates 20-30 times more forum views.
Actually, the question is: from the point of view of SEO professionals, what to do with the activity in the "Policy"? Support and try to organize the transition of users from there to profile branches,
An idea was put forward to separate the "Politics" branch into a separate forum - how would you rate such a decision in terms of usefulness for the main forum?

In general, the first thing that comes to mind is to break the profile branches into subdomains, and organize the transition to subdomains from the horizontal menu.
And accordingly increase the activity both in the policy subdomain and in the subdomains of other specialized branches, let them develop in an abstract way.
