Font loading speed?

How much does the connection of fonts from Google font affect the site loading speed? I'm asking because I'm choosing a font for the site, but the choice is too large, since both system fonts and fonts from Google Font can suit me. And if the connected fonts are worse then I will choose from the system ones

Google font fonts are cached in the browser. It won't affect the speed much. But it is better to give from your server in several formats.
