Features of assembling virtual stands on KVM?

Hello.
Suppose I am given the task: "periodically it is necessary to assemble virtual stands on KVM for testing and debugging some things."
Does the term "virtual stand" mean just several simultaneously running VMs that can interact with each other over the network?
If the answer to the first question is "yes", then is it possible at all to assemble an adequately working "stand" for 5-10 VMs on KVM?
What additional utilities are available?
Are there any useful (and up-to-date) articles on this topic?

Have you tried configuration management systems? Cheff, Puppet, Ansible (the easiest).
