External monitor resolution on Ubuntu 14.04 + Nvidia optimus?

I have a laptop (nvidia + intel), I switch cards using nvidia prime, an external monitor is connected to the laptop (it acts as the main one, that is, the laptop lid is closed). The problem is, when I select an nvidia card, the external monitor takes the resolution of the built-in (from the laptop) and in order to make the native resolution, you need to open the laptop lid and select the mode with the function keys. When switching to an Intel card, there is no such problem, the monitor immediately takes its resolution. How to make when selecting nvidia card, the resolution becomes normal, without function keys?
nvidia driver version - 331.38

@Undebraif

as an option - run a script with xrandr from the desktop. And if you know how to catch the event (maybe through udev), then hang the script there
