ESC sequences or ncurses?

Good day to all. Thank you for your time.
An application is planned that will have a lot of text output to the console / terminal under Linux, the specific platform is unknown. The text will need to be formatted (color/background/blink/position).
Should I use ncurses or keep using ascii esc sequences?

ncurses is good because it can work under different terminal emulators, giving the same output at the output. The terminal may or may not be XTERM. Usually a set of XTERM escape sequences is enough, but you can play it safe.

ncurses of course, this library is designed to make life easier when working with ASCII
