Error 500 on ubuntu + apache?

How can I find the cause of the 500 error?

There is vps ubuntu + apache2 + php + mysql
There is a self-written site that runs fine on regular hosting.
There are no errors in the apache logs.

You need to look at the PHP logs. If it is empty there too, turn on more detailed display of errors.

I confirm, you won't find anything without logs... well, or run apache/php in gdb/strase and debug them... well, this is already quite hardcore... although sometimes it helps..
