I may not understand something, but why do you need some kind of service for this?
We are looking for a translation on the rutracker. We read to understand the general context. We open the original, read, incomprehensible words look in Google.
Of course, I understand that all people are different, and everyone has their own approach.
But it seems to me that cramming individual words in a pile is a completely stupid option, which is resorted to only if all the others do not work.
The language is much better absorbed if you read a coherent text. The meaning of most unfamiliar words will be clear without any dictionary, just from the context. Moreover, these will be normal, living meanings, and not some kind of bits, such as, for example, "cry", which is translated in Soviet schools as "cry". In English, almost every word has 2-5 meanings or more. And there is absolutely no point in cramming one. Words should not be taught separately, but in context. A connected text will provide just such a context.
For example, a random sentence, A gentle breeze wafted the scent of roses in through the open window. in it, I don’t know the word waft, but here you don’t even need to go into the dictionary - if a light breeze smells something through an open window, then this is something - “denounced”.
In addition, the knowledge of individual words does not give anything at all. Because the context, placement in the text, use in set phrases is always important. With English, there are cases when you know the meaning of each word in a sentence, but you don’t get into its general meaning at all. Well, then what's the point of cramming individual words?
Again, for this to work, you need to read not mechanically, but immerse yourself in the text, keep the picture in your head, imagine what it is about. Most likely, zoomers brought up by tablets do not know how, but that's another question. If you already undertook to learn English from books, then you should do it normally, and not by beating your head against the wall. It will help to read the translation first. And then, reading the original, you will already have an idea of what is at stake, and just look at how it is described in English phrases.
