Elementary OS for development (backend)?

The system seems to be actively developing, and now I haven’t noticed those disadvantages that they hung on it a couple of years ago (I dug into the live version).
If anyone uses for work, I would like to hear if there are any pitfalls?
Interested in PHPStorm with Git, and Docker, in which the entire environment is deployed.
And yet, how much RAM does it take approximately during operation, or at least consumption compared to Ubuntu etc.? In live, there was a suspicion that the window manager eats too much there ..

It's Ubuntu, what could be the problem? Just with a different window manager

I have a bad idea how you can develop without Xneur (Punto Switcher).
Doesn't work in Elementary.
