Each time a different number of files. Why??

Antivirus

Each time when checking in WINDOWS DEFENDER, a different number of files is checked - 44003, 13000 with something, 18824. And so several checks in a row. Why????

so maybe the antivirus monitors activity and does not scan files that are not requested / unchanged
, it seems that the files have a last access date and files can be excluded from scanning based on the date
