Draw stripes with a vector gradient. What is it like?

There is an example (attached below). There, the orange stripes are drawn with a vector gradient (nice).
I tried to repeat (as I thought). I drew rectangles, rasterized, transformed (in thickness and angle of inclination 45), made a gradient fill. It turned out worse. What technology was the right way to draw?

How it happened: https://yadi.sk/i/pfsNVz9ArPp3kg (the dynamics is not felt, but in the example it is felt).
What's in the original: https://yadi.sk/i/3uC6HxjAoTiy1A (also attached, but not open everywhere)

No matter what vector or raster gradient. The original looks more dynamic, because. the strips support the direction of people's bodies.
