Downgrading the site in search results (did you redesign and change the engine)?

Hi all!
There is an old store (they did a redesign and the engine was changed) it has meta tags written 5 years ago, and it is not written correctly, in general, the question is if we change the meta tags to new ones, how will the search engines perceive it? Maybe because of this, the site falls in search engines?
Thank you.

Here it is necessary to clarify what kind of meta tags are we talking about?

Both Yandex and Google have long stated that meta tags are not taken into account in ranking. The subsidence could occur due to a change in the structure of the site. Urls changed, internal links changed, 301 redirects to new pages were not installed...
